Dr. Ma is an Associate Professor of Creative Producing at The Sidney Poitier New American Film School at Arizona State University (ASU) and the Interim Associate Director of the Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center, a world-class creative technology facility with over $100 million in investment at ASU. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. As a multifaceted scholar-practitioner, Dr. Ma has more than a decade of professional expertise in the creative industries, particularly in creative producing, with over eight years of service within the international film production division of Warner Bros.
His research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of creative content, business, and technology, while his practical experience spans filmed entertainment, games, virtual reality, art program curation, and event planning. Dr. Ma has secured research funding from competitive international, national, and regional programs and has published in leading international venues. His creative works have been invited to screen at prestigious events, including the Shanghai International Film Festival, the Tokyo International Film Festival, and the Busan International Film Festival, among others.
