Sr Liny Lau qualified as a professional Building Surveyor in 2003 and has accumulated over 20 years’ experience on building maintenance and rehabilitation. She is also a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architectural Conservationists. Her graduate training in the ArchSD, HKSARG, focusing on upkeep of historic buildings, sparked her interest and laid the foundation for her career in heritage conservation.
After practising in a local building surveying consultancy and the Buildings Department for her career development, Sr Lau returned to her career on heritage conservation by joining the Commissioner for Heritage’s Office, Development Bureau, HKSARG, for implementation of Batches I and II of the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme in 2018. Subsequently, she served as a Maintenance Surveyor of the ArchSD and is now the Senior Maintenance Surveyor in the Heritage Unit. She plays a key role on the upkeep of the built heritage: ensuring the quality in the upkeeping of government-owned facilities, providing quality professional advisory services on a wide spectrum and promoting best practices in the industry. She is grateful for the opportunities to contribute in preserving government-owned historic buildings in Hong Kong and to remain dedicated to learning and growing in this field.
